Residential Home

Gardenia Lodge accepts male and female clients usually for long term elderly residential and EMI care. The home does accept physically disabled clients as well as those requiring palliative care, where appropriate. Staff have received comprehensive training in dementia care and therefore individuals who require dementia care are accommodated.

25 places for elderly residents who possess a residential or EMI certificate from the Needs Assessment Panel, Guernsey.


A pre-admission assessment will be carried out to assess the suitability of the match between your needs and the Services and facilities of The Home. The suitability of your admission will be discussed with you and, if appropriate and with your permission, your representative(s).


Emergency admissions will be accepted only in exceptional circumstances, where the health or safety of the Service User is under threat, and normally only through a professional referrer such as Social Services. In this event, the suitability of the proposed Service User will be discussed with the professional referrer to ensure that the needs match the services offered, and the normal pre-admission assessment will be carried out within 48 hours of admission.

Offer skilled care to enable people who live here to achieve their optimum state of health and well-being.

Treat all people who live and work at the Home and all people who visit with respect at all times. Respect and encourage the right of independence of all Service Users.

Recognise the individual uniqueness of Service Users, staff and visitors, and treat them with dignity and respect at all times.

Respect individual requirement for privacy at all times and treat all information relating to individuals in a confidential manner.

Recognise the individual need for personal fulfilment and offer individualised programmes of meaningful activity to satisfy that need of Service Users and staff.

Fees

The below fees are for a standard rate room. Gardenia Lodge has a number of private rooms which are larger and have better facilities. These come with a nightly top-up charge which varies dependant on the room.

To receive the Long Term Care Benefit you must be in possession of a Needs Assessment Panel Certificate (NAPS) from the Health and Social Security Department

Co-payment 

£327.32

The co-payment is any personal funds that the client may have. This can include any other benefits being received. This weekly amount is the same whether at residential rate or EMI rate

Mr. & Mrs. Best

Directors & Owners

Mr. & Mrs. Best, Directors of Gardenia Lodge Limited, as well as Les Ormes Care Home Limited, have owned and managed care homes in Guernsey since 1998, in both the Residential and Nursing sectors. Their previous business experience in the food industry and the finance sector provide extra knowledge in relevant areas of the Care sector.

Nominated Person

Mrs. Best started in the industry by providing administration and accounting services to a local residential home in the mid 1990's. Advancement saw her becoming a designated person for the home before she acquired her own establishment with her husband in 1998. It is the sister home to Les Ormes Care Home which provides residential care.

Registered Manager

Qualifications: Registered nurse.  
Experience: More than 20 years nursing experience. Working on Brock and Carey ward in the Princess Elizabeth Hospital for over 15 years, achieving the long-service award in 2019 and nominated for Bailiwick Nurse of the Year in 2018.
